Every stay, the same good questions come up — where's the nearest shop, which beach, what's worth a trip out. Here's what we tell our own guests, straight from Villa Betty in Dubravka.
Gruda, the local centre of Konavle, is the closest place for everything day-to-day — about 13 km from Dubravka. You'll find:
There's also a small coffee bar just 2 km from the villa, for when Gruda feels like too far to go. For a bigger shop, Cavtat and the Konzum in Srebreno are both a further drive.
The Sokol fortress — one of the most interesting historic sites in Konavle — is only 1 km up the road from the villa, and worth the short walk.
Pasjača is the one guests remember — a dramatic pebble beach tucked beneath tall cliffs near the village of Popovići, roughly 15–20 minutes from the villa by car. It's not a hidden secret anymore, but it's still worth the walk down.
Molunat, further south, is quieter and partly sandy — a good choice if you want space to spread out.
Closer to town, Cavtat itself has several easy, family-friendly options: Žal (the largest, gently sloping into the sea), plus Rat, Sustjepan and the pine-shaded Albatros.
Of everywhere nearby, Cavtat is the one guests come back talking about. It's a proper old harbour town — a waterfront promenade lined with restaurants, a walkable old core, and the Sokol watchtower above it — close enough for a relaxed evening out, without the crowds or the day-trip cruise ships of Dubrovnik's Old Town. Come dinner time, the harbourfront has everything from casual konobas to fine dining, all a short stroll from the water.
A car is genuinely useful here — Konavle rewards a bit of independent exploring — but everything above is also reachable without one.
